Beltrami County, Red Lake Nation part of in-home COVID testing pilot

MDH announced Thursday that in-home saliva testing kits will be piloted in two dozen counties and tribal nations across the state, and Beltrami County, the Red Lake Nation, and Itasca County are among the pilot areas.

According to a release, residents in these areas will be able to order a testing kit online, where it will be sent with a prepaid package to return it, and the service will soon be available to all Minnesotans.

These pilot areas were selected to represent diverse areas of the state, without a saliva testing location.

Participants will be asked for their health insurance information so the state can bill their insurance company on their behalf.

If a person is uninsured or for any reason insurance does not cover some or all of the cost, the state will cover the difference so testing remains completely free to everyone.
