Council to consider outdoor seating solutions during meeting Friday

The Bemidji City Council will meet for a special meeting tomorrow to consider recommendations from the Public Affairs Committee on the next steps for Governor Tim Walz’s “Stay Safe MN” order.

According to the agenda, the council will consider outdoor seating options for restaurants and bars, as well as consider a refund of a portion of liquor license fees.

Restaurants and bars will be allowed to offer dining again beginning June 1, but with safety precautions in place, including outdoor dining only, restaurant capacity limited to 50 patrons, dining parties of six or fewer, and spreading tables out six feet apart. Masks must be worn by employees, and customers will be strongly encouraged to wear masks except while eating and drinking.

The meeting will begin at 1 p.m. Friday, May 29.
