Akeley man killed in house fire

An Akeley man was killed in a house fire last week.

According to a release from Hubbard County Sheriff Cory Aukes, neighbors reported hearing an explosion from inside a home on Pleasant Avenue in Akeley just before the fire started.

Fire departments from Akeley and Nevis responded to the call last Wednesday around 8 p.m.

Just over an hour later, the remains of 45-year-old Jason Brose were discovered.

The Ramsey County Medical Examiner’s Office ruled Brose’s cause of death was smoke inhalation.

The incident is still under investigation by the Akeley Police Department and the Hubbard County Sheriff’s Office.
