Annual deer surveys starting soon, citizens asked not to interfere

The Bemidji State biology department will soon conduct their annual deer surveys, and citizens are asked not to interfere.

The survey looks like the illegal activity of deer shining, but it is sanctioned under the direction of Assistant Professor of Biology Dr. Jacob Haus.

He and his students will be in multiple BSU vehicles with hazard lights on, driving at slow speeds while shining spotlights.

Surveys are expected on Oct. 17-18, and Oct. 25-26, in Ward 5, Ward 4 and the Bemidji Regional Airport.

Citizens are asked not to report the survey team to law enforcement or interfere with their activities.
