Anyone interested in having a say on the City Charter is encouraged to apply for the Bemidji Charter Commission.
There may be three open seats on this citizen committee, with two terms expiring this June and one existing vacancy with a term that ends next year.
Applications are available on the city’s website and must be submitted by May 28.
The commission meets at least once a year and has the authority to put referendums on city ballots.
The commission generally serves to hold the council accountable to their own rules and guidelines.
