AUDIO: Beltrami County’s Chris Muller and Megan Heuer discuss the local COVID situation

Beltrami County has been confirming new COVID cases every day this week, as a cluster of positive cases were found to have been frequenting Bemidji area businesses during their contagious period. As contact tracing and investigation continues, more cases are anticipated with an increase in local testing.

Beltrami County Family Health Program Manager Megan Heuer recommends staying home when possible, hand hygiene, practicing social distancing and wearing masks.

As many public health officials across the country have said, the mask isn’t necessarily to prevent droplets from reaching the mask wearer: they’re intended to keep the wearer’s droplets to themselves.

Beltrami’s Emergency Management Director Chris Muller reminds residents that while things across the state might be improving, the increase in cases is just starting here in Greater Minnesota.

A handful of downtown restaurants posted on their social media pages this week that they would be closed at least for a few days as they learned their staff may have been exposed to COVID.

Listen to the full interview with Chris and Megan. To clarify, there are no COVID-19 related hospitalizations in Beltrami County at the time of this interview.
