Dr. Colleen Swank, Sanford Bemidji pediatrician and VP of clinics, discussed the COVID vaccine rollout.
So far, the hospital is still working on the two doses of the Pfizer vaccine for the 1A priority group, which includes health care workers and residents of long-term care facilities.
Dr. Swank also spoke to the vaccine misinformation that is spreading across social media.
Swank also said the vaccine rollout speed is largely dependent on the guidelines the Minnesota Department of Health puts out for health care providers.
Some states are moving ahead to more general populations while Minnesota remains focused on the 1A priority group.
Each type of vaccine, the Pfizer and Moderna, need two doses spread between 3 and 4 weeks apart for full immunity.
