AUDIO: House DFL reveals budget and tax package, 5A Rep. Bliss responds

Minnesota House DFLers released their budget bills related to tax, education, labor and workforce.

The legislation, according to a release, includes ongoing investments in education and prioritizes economic assistance to those most impacted by COVID-19.

House Majority Leader Ryan Winkler says the wealthiest Minnesotans will be asked to pay their fair share of taxes to fund these investments.

House 5A Republican Matt Bliss says the package isn’t needed because of the state’s surplus plus federal dollars boosting the state.

Bliss said he is optimistic that the two parties can work together for a budget bill that will also pass through the Republican-controlled Senate and be signed into law by DFL Gov. Tim Walz.
