AUDIO: Interview with the Honorable Paul T. Benshoof

Judge Paul T. Benshoof has been seated in Beltrami County Court since 1997, and is retiring July 10.

Bemidji Now author and Paul Bunyan Broadcasting’s News Director Larissa Donovan had an opportunity to interview Judge Benshoof before his retirement, and discussed the changing landscape of the judicial system since the late 90s.

Benshoof emphasized the importance of recognizing and addressing the issues of poverty and substance use disorder in our community, and cited exponential increases in certain types of cases over his tenure in respect to those social issues.

Three candidates are currently being considered as Benshoof’s successor. More information about them is available here.
