A paid family and medical leave bill cleared its first committee Tuesday.
House Majority Leader Ryan Winkler says this measure would help people, especially women, return to the workforce after an extended illness or a new baby.
If passed, DEED would administer the paid family and medical leave program in conjunction with the Unemployment Insurance program, with employers and employees splitting the cost.
