Nurse Practitioner Nicole Pink in Sanford Bemidji’s Dermatology department highlighted several ways people can keep their skin healthy this summer.
Pink said that a sunscreen with an SPF of 30 or higher is the best defense against sunburn.
I asked several questions on types of sunscreen, like mineral or chemical-based, sunscreens for kids, and when we should be concerned about moles on our skin.
On moles, Pink recommends seeing a dermatologist any time a mole appears different, like scabbing, bleeding, tenderness, and other symptoms.
Patients do need a referral to be seen at Sanford Dermatology.
