U.S. Senator Tina Smith recently introduced a bill aimed at protecting access to affordable housing in rural communities.
Bemidji’s Ridgeway Court apartment buildings fall under this programming.
Two of those buildings have fallen into a dangerous level of disrepair and neglect, a fact that is not lost on the Senator.
Smith’s bill will also provide assistance to owners of affordable housing buildings to help with maintenance to avoid similar situations in the future.
