AUDIO: Senator Tina Smith provides Washington, D.C. update

U.S. Senator Tina Smith (D-Minn.) called the station this morning, and gave a brief update on things underway in the nation’s capitol.

A $3 trillion stimulus package narrowly passed the House this week, but Smith anticipates it will not move past Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.).

Smith also discussed how the affordable housing crisis has been exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic, and raised concerns that the nation may face another housing crisis, similar to what happened in 2008.

She proposed some relief for rent and mortgage payers yesterday in the Senate.
