WALKER–A Backus man was sentenced to 12 years in prison for criminal sexual conduct in the first degree.
According to a release from the Cass County Attorney’s Office, 58-year-old Douglas Wayne Braker pleaded guilty to the count, and several other criminal sexual conduct charges were dismissed.

Court documents indicate that Braker’s victim was a minor between the ages of 13 and 16.
Attorney Ben Lindstrom noted in the release the amount of courage it must have taken for the victim to come forward, and that it takes support from the community, family and friends to ensure these types of prosecutions are successful.
