RED LAKE FALLS– A Bagley woman recently entered a guilty plea to second-degree murder of a 2-month-old child.

According to reports, 31-year-old Sarah Kortan was arrested over a year ago in her apartment in Red Lake Falls after she called authorities to report the child wasn’t breathing.

Doctors informed investigators that the child had little to no brain activity due to possible shaken baby syndrome.

The child’s mother, Kortan’s first cousin, was in prison and had given Kortan custody of the baby.

Kortan faces up to 40 years in prison and is scheduled to appear for sentencing September 23rd.
