The planting at the Farm at the Bemidji Community Food Shelf has already begun with garlic, and the nonprofit is currently seeking volunteers to help with the rest of the spring planting.
The Farm offers volunteers outdoor experiences with minimal risk, as the volunteer work can be done while practicing social distancing.
Individual volunteers, family units and small business groups are welcome to contact Dorothy at 218-444-6580 extension 23.
Last year, the Farm produced 9,000 pounds of produce that was distributed to local people in need.
Today is also the last day to contribute to the March Food Share event, which was extended to the end of April due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Bemidji Community Food Shelf is a participating food bank in the program.
