Search ends for missing hunter, found dead

The Becker County Sheriff’s Office reports that a missing hunter’s body was found around 8:30 this morning.

According to the original release, 58-year-old Paul Sandstrom of Blaine was last seen around 3:45 p.m. Sunday afternoon, in the Gardner and Bad Medicine lakes area, in northern Becker County.

He was supposed to meet the rest of his hunting party later that evening, but did not arrive at the scheduled time.

“Our thoughts and prayers go out to Mr. Sandstrom’s family and friends,” said Becker County Sheriff Todd Glander. “We would like to thank all those who assisted in the search.”

The White Earth Tribal Police Department, Minnesota State Patrol, Minnesota DNR, US Fish and Wildlife Service, Elbow Tulaby Fire Department, Carsonville Fire Department, Clearwater County Sheriff’s Office and North Memorial Ambulance assisted with the search.
