BEMIDJI– The Beltrami County Board of Commissioners are preparing themselves for the 2020 budget.
During their work session Tuesday, County Administrator Kay Mack gave the commissioners a brief overview on what 2020 will entail.
All eight county labor contracts will be renegotiated during this year, so those salary increases will be reflected in next year’s budget.
There are also 27 pay periods in 2020, versus the usual 26, which would cost an additional $1 million in cash flows.
Proposed to serve on the budget committee is freshman commissioner Craig Gaasvig and commissioner Tim Sumner, as well as county attorney David Hanson, county sheriff Ernie Bietel, auditor-treasurer JoDee Treat and health and human services director Becky Secore.
After negotiating with department heads and reviewing budget requests in July and August, the committee will present their initial budget during a September meeting.
