The Beltrami County Board of Commissioners is reportedly going to discuss a resolution today that would encourage the Walz Administration to reopen bars, restaurants and places of public accommodation.
The resolution states, “Beltrami County has followed the CDC Guidelines, and under Federal Regional Gating Requirements has met the three phases that were recommended.”
These “Federal Regional Gating Requirements,” available on the White House Opening America website, include guidelines in three parts.
For symptoms, a “downward trajectory of influenza-like illnesses reported within a 14-day period AND a downward trajectory of covid-like syndromic cases reported within a 14-day period.”
For cases, the guidelines require a “downward trajectory of documented cases within a 14-day period OR downward trajectory of positive tests as a percent of total tests within a 14-day period (flat or increasing volume of tests).”
For hospitals, the guidelines are to “treat all patients without crisis care AND robust testing program in place for at risk healthcare workers, including emerging antibody testing.”
After those guidelines are met, the White House recommends three phases for reopening communities.
In a letter penned by Commissioner Jim Lucachick, “We cannot stay closed any longer and need to open as soon as possible….The curve is completely flattened. Yes, we will still experience cases, but Sanford is confident that they can handle the surge, when it comes later in the summer.”
Sanford Health has reportedly not had a single positive COVID-19 test at the Bemidji location in over two weeks. Widespread testing still remains unavailable, as testing is still prioritized for those in healthcare settings, for both patients and workers.
