Bemidji Airport receives $1 million grant

Congresswoman Michelle Fischbach announced a grant worth over a million dollars to the Bemidji Regional Airport.

According to a release, the grant is funded through the Federal Aviation Administration’s Airport Coronavirus Response Grant Program.

“I am pleased to announce this grant for the Bemidji Regional Airport – a critical transportation hub for the region and state. This grant is important for the airport’s short- and long-term future and will help ensure it remains a quick and convenient travel center for northern Minnesota,” said Fischbach.

“An open and accessible airport is key for connecting local industry to the global market, attracting economic development, and facilitating tourism. This additional funding will assist this essential air service airport keep their operations running and people employed as we continue to navigate this pandemic.”

The funds, according to a release, can be used for costs related to the COVID-19 pandemic, such as airport operations, personnel, cleaning and debt service payments.
