Bemidji Blotter: 5/8-5/9

The following is a summary of incidents the Bemidji Police Department and the Beltrami County Sheriff’s Office responded to on Monday, May 8, and Tuesday, May 9.

BEMIDJI POLICE DEPARTMENT

TUESDAY, MAY 9

Welfare Check, 11:02 p.m.

Welfare check on female on America Ave. NW. Female is ok. Complaining about other people in the building.

Harassment, 9:54 p.m.

Complaints of people coming into her yard on the 3900 block of Irvine Ave. NW. Doesn’t want anything done, just make law enforcement aware.

Traffic Stop, 8:36 p.m.

Traffic stop on 21st St. and Delton Ave. NW. One arrested.

Welfare Check, 8:34 p.m.

Welfare check on a boy walking in the rain on 30th St. and Ridgeway Ave. NW. Officers checked the area but were unable to locate the described child.

Property Damage, 8:10 p.m.

Adult female arrested for damaging a patrol car on the 600 block of Minnesota Ave. NW.

Assist, 7:53 p.m.

Caller reported being followed by an officer on the 500 block of Paul Bunyan Dr. NW. Caller was advised she had a suspended driving status and the officer was simply waiting for a safe opportunity to perform a traffic stop. Caller hung up in the middle of our conversation.

Harassment, 6:50 p.m.

Officer took report of two drivers making obscene hand gestures at each other in traffic on Paul Bunyan Drive. Both parties were advised to refrain from such activities in the future. No criminal activity reported or observed.

Vehicle Calls/Complaints, 10:45 a.m.

Vehicle parked over 24 hours without moving on the 1100 block of Dewey Ave. NE. Owner currently in prison. Owner spoke with owner’s mother and advised of complaint.

Warrant, 1:15 a.m.

Adult male arrested on out-of-county warrant on the 800 block of America Ave. NW. Officer transported the male to be taken into custody by the county from where the warrant was from.

MONDAY, MAY 8

Disturbing the Peace, 11:28 p.m.

Caller reported a male yelling in the street on Beltrami Ave. and 12th St. NW. Officer checked the area but was unable to find anyone.

DWI, 11:22 p.m.

Traffic stop on 1st St. and Paul Bunyan Dr. S. One arrested.

Suspicious, 10:59 p.m.

Officer spoke to a male driver who had been flashing the high beams in his car on Minnesota Ave. NW. The male reported several suspicious people in the area.

Fire, 10:13 p.m.

Outside fire complaint on Pine Crest Ct. NW handled by Bemidji Fire Department.

Warrant, 8:30 p.m.

Adult male arrested for warrant on the 2600 block of Paul Bunyan Dr. NW.

Welfare Check, 6:10 p.m.

Small child in the road on Pine Ridge Ave. nW. Returned to mother.

Property Damage, 5:33 p.m.

Juveniles throwing rocks at vehicles in a parking lot on the 1400 block of Paul Bunyan Dr. NW. Juveniles returned to parents’ homes.

Assault, 11:46 a.m.

A juvenile was arrested and another cited for disorderly conduct fighting at Bemidji High School.

Warrant, 10:56 a.m.

Officers arrested a subject on a felony warrant at a local residence on Irvine Ave. NW.

Medical, 1:47 a.m.

Drug overdose on the 1100 block of Paul Bunyan Dr. NW. Female transported by EMS.

BELTRAMI COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE

TUESDAY, MAY 9

Fire, 8:22 p.m.

Deputy checked on a small fire in the ditch on Scenic Highway and Kitchi Landing Ln. NE. Was found to be a controlled burn by a homeowner.

Littering, 7:06 p.m.

Report of unknown substance being dumped on Haiby Rd. NE in Blackduck. Found to be fish entrails. Subject located and warned to dispose of this appropriately in the future.

MONDAY, MAY 8

Weapons Offenses, 11:50 p.m.

Deputy checked the area of Wild Rose Ln. NW for the report of gunshots. All appeared to be normal in the area.

Pursuit, 12:11 a.m.

Vehicle pursuit on New Strand Rd. and Roosevelt Rd. SE in Cass Lake. One male DOC fugitive arrested for an active warrant, fleeing in a motor vehicle and a DWI.
