Bemidji City Council approves MOU with Visit Bemidji, holds first readings of four amendments

The Bemidji City Council approved an updated MOU with Visit Bemidji.

Ward 2’s Josh Peterson, who serves as Executive Director for Visit Bemidji, abstained from the vote, but the otherwise fully approved MOU updates some of the financial terms of the agreement.

The financial agreement stipulates a $30,000 annual injection from the city, an equivalent one from the tourism board, and another $30,000 from expected rental revenues to cooperatively fund staffing at the Tourist Information Center.

The council also held the first readings of four amendments related to outdoor dining, which would allow alcohol to be served in barricaded public spaces near downtown restaurants.

A public hearing on the amendments will be held in about two weeks.
