BEMIDJI– The Bemidji City Council awarded a bid of just over $1 million to Reierson Construction last night during their regular meeting last night.

The 30th Street reconstruction project will continue the work done a few years ago, continuing the bike trail on the north side of 30th street, as well as narrowing Hannah Avenue and adding a sidewalk-bike trail on the west side of that street.

That project is expected to start after the Fourth of July holiday and wrap up around the end of September.

The council also heard a recap of the Loop the Lake Festival held over the weekend, with over 1,000 reported to have registered and participated in the event.

In years past, about half of the participants are local, while the other half travel to Bemidji for the event.
