Bemidji City Council gives council reports

The Bemidji City Council held a work session to update one another on their respective committee assignments.

The council used to keep these brief, generally five-minute reports on the agenda of their regular meetings, but in the last couple of years, they were moved off the agenda due to taking at least an hour to complete them.

At-large council member Dan Jourdain submitted his update over email, and newly-sworn-in Ward 5 representative Lynn Eaton was excused from submitting a report due to having only served in the post for about a week.

The council members updated each other on Long-term projects such as sustainability efforts, the proposed Wellness Center in the rail corridor, and work the Joint Planning Board is undertaking, including an airport exclusion zoning process as well as a complete zoning ordinance update.

The council will meet again for a special work session this Friday to formally authorize the contract for ASM Global, which is set to take over operations of the Sanford Center this weekend upon the end of the VenuWorks contract.
