BEMIDJI– A Bemidji man died Friday morning after a serious two-vehicle crash between Bemidji and Cass Lake Tuesday.

According to an update from the state patrol, 74-year-old Torrence Lillevold died from the injuries sustained in the crash.

The initial report said that Lillevold was attempting to cross Highway 2 from Vagabond Loop when his Jeep Cherokee was struck by a Jeep Liberty.

Forty-year-old Nicole Sovde of Bemidji attempted to swerve to miss Lillevold but the Jeeps collided, causing Lillevold’s vehicle to roll into the ditch.

A passenger in the Liberty, a 14-year-old Bemidji girl, was treated for non-life threatening injuries at Sanford Hospital.

Roads were dry at the time of the crash, and alcohol is not believed to be a factor.
