Bemidji man in custody after apparent homicide in Puposky

A Bemidji man is in custody on unrelated charges after an apparent homicide in Puposky early Friday morning.

Beltrami County Sheriff Ernie Beitel says deputies responded to the 1000 block of Durand Dr. NW in Puposky around 2 a.m. Friday on the report of an assault.

The victim, 53-year-old Burgess Palmore of Bloomington, died at the scene.

Twenty-one-year-old Scott Schulman, the apparent suspect, has an arraignment pending for possible new charges relating to this suspected homicide.

The Midwest Medical Examiner’s Office ruled the death as a homicide.

Because Schulman is currently on probation for a 2020 assault, he is currently in custody without bond for violating the terms of his probation.

Court records show that Schulman has an 18-month prison sentence, stayed for five years, for his assault conviction.
