Bemidji Schools adopts emergency response protocol, parents guide issued

The Bemidji School District has updated its emergency operations plans.

The district adopted the Standard Response Protocol from the “i love you guys” Foundation.

This SRP is used in more than 30,000 schools, colleges and universities in the United States and in Canada to standardize the language and terms used in emergency situations.

Students and staff have been trained on this program for the past year, and the district’s partnered with local law enforcement and first responders.

In the event of an emergency situation, parents are advised to do a number of things to protect the safety of their students and their school.

In the event of an intruder, parents should stay home until notified of the reunification of students to their families, and they should also hold off on calling or texting their children until it is safe to do so.
