Bemidji Veterans Home groundbreaking announced

The groundbreaking for the Bemidji Veterans Home is two weeks from today.

The public is invited to the Sanford Health campus grounds at 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 26, at the site of the future 72-unit facility.

The home may be open as soon as June 2023.

Sanford Bemidji donated 15 acres of their campus for the project. Federal and state funding was also secured with a sizeable local contribution.

The nursing home will be for veterans and their spouses.

Applications for employment or intake are not yet being accepted, but the Minnesota Department of Veterans Affairs has an email subscribe link available.

Earlier this week, construction began at the Preston Veterans Home after a groundbreaking ceremony with MDVA Commissioner Larry Herke and Gov. Walz.
