Bemidji Weekend Blotter 5/14-5/17

The following is a summary of incidents the Bemidji Police Department and the Beltrami County Sheriff’s Office responded to from Thursday, May 14, to Sunday, May 17.

BEMIDJI POLICE DEPARTMENT

SUNDAY, MAY 17

Agency Assist, 9:36 p.m.

Traffic stop on Washington Ave. and Oak Hills Rd. SE. Driver arrested for DWI.

Theft, 7:27 p.m.

An officer took a report of a stolen bicycle on the 2000 block of Paul Bunyan Dr. NW.

Traffic Stop, 1:27 p.m.

An individual was verbally warned for excessive speed on the 1400 block of Delton Ave. NW.

Found, 10:53 a.m.

Found shotgun in the river between Lake Irving and Lake Bemidji.

SATURDAY, MAY 16

Disturbing the Peace, 11:22 p.m.

Officer responded to a noise complaint on the 700 block of 19th St. NW. Officer advised homeowner to keep the noise down while they were having a fire.

911, 8:16 p.m.

Officer responded to a 911 call on the 800 block of Park Ave. NW. Female requested assistance in getting property back. One arrested.

Fire, 3:26 p.m.

Report of illegal fire on the 700 block of Irvine Ave. NW. Fire department responded and found a small smoldering piece of wood in back fire pit, but no one answered the door.

Warrant, 12:47 p.m.

Officers checked the area of the 1400 block of Bemidji Ave. N for a male with a warrant but he had left the city limits. Later apprehended by a BCSO deputy.

Accident, 6:49 a.m.

Subject struck in crosswalk on Lake Ave. SE and Roosevelt Rd. SE. One juvenile cited.

Disorderly Conduct, 5:49 a.m.

Complaint of subject causing a ruckus in a trailer park on the 1000 block of Washington Ave. S. He was advised to keep it under wraps.

Disorderly Conduct, 3:25 a.m.

Officers responded to a call of disorderly conduct on the 1800 block of Paul Bunyan Dr. NW. A subject was arrested on a warrant.

Assault, 2:07 a.m.

Officers responded to a report of an assault on the 500 block of 20th St. NW. One arrested.

FRIDAY, MAY 15

Suspicious, 11:38 p.m.

Checked on two suspicious individuals going through donation items outside a thrift store on the 800 block of 15th St. NW. One arrested on a warrant.

Disturbing the Peace, 10:48 p.m.

Officer spoke with individuals about loud party on the 1500 block of Calihan Ave. NE. Individuals stated they would take party inside residence.

Disturbing the Peace, 10:26 p.m.

Officer spoke to individuals about long party on the 1600 block of Bixby Ave. NE. Individuals stated they would take party inside residence.

Traffic Stop, 9:23 p.m.

Traffic stop on Paul Bunyan Dr. Driver arrested for DWI.

Disturbing the Peace, 5:01 p.m.

Loud music complaint at 900 block of Bemidji Ave. N. It was a birthdya party and the music was turned down.

Welfare Check, 11:53 a.m.

Welfare check requested, determined to be estranged partner “fishing” for information. Unfounded.

DWI, 2:01 a.m.

Traffic stop on the 2800 block of Pine Ridge Ave. NW. Driver arrested for DWI and DAC-IPS. Passenger arrested for an outstanding warrant.

THURSDAY, MAY 14

Disturbing the Peace, 11:58 p.m.

Noise complaint on the 2500 block of Bemidji Ave. N. Officers made contact with the renter who turned the music down.

Disturbing the Peace, 11:44 p.m.

Subjects at residence on the 2200 block of Irvine Ave. NW warned for noise.

Suspicious, 8:48 p.m.

An officer checked on young individuals in an alley on the 100 block of Minnesota Ave. NW. Nothing of concern was found as they were just talking.

DWI, 8:23 p.m.

Report of two individuals fighting on the 400 block of 15th St. NW. Adult male arrested for DWI.

DWI, 12:05 a.m.

Traffic stop on the 2700 block of Paul Bunyan Dr. NW. Adult male arrested for DWI and fifth degree possession of a controlled substance.

BELTRAMI COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE

SUNDAY, MAY 17

Drugs, 8:50 a.m.

Deputy took a report of possible drug activity.

SATURDAY, MAY 16

Assault, 10:43 p.m.

Report of an assault on the 1200 block of Miles Ave. SE.

Vehicle Calls/Complaints, 3:18 p.m.

Report of an abandoned vehicle on Plantation Rd. and Mission Rd. SE. Stolen vehicle recovered.

Weapons Offenses, 3:11 p.m.

Deputies responded to a report of a person with a firearm on the 900 block of Porcupine Rd. SE in Cass Lake. LLTP found the item to be a cell phone.

Agency Assist, 12:47 p.m.

Deputies received information regarding the location of an adult male with a confirmed felony DOC warrant. The male was located on the 1400 block of Bemidji Ave. N and arrested.

Vehicle Calls/Complaints, 11:30 a.m.

Deputy responded to a complaint of a reckless driver who had then struck another parked car. Driver was ultimately arrested on Highway 2 for DWI.

FRIDAY, MAY 15

Accident, 11:06 p.m.

Truck vs. Horse. Crash was found to have taken place in Clearwater County.

911, 10:37 p.m.

911 misdial. ANOTHER cell phone emergency dialing feature gone wrong. No problems with caller.

Burglary, 9:58 a.m.

Deputy spoke with complainant regarding the burglary of his seasonal cabin in Pennington. Under investigation.

THURSDAY, MAY 14

Dead Body, 11:25 p.m.

Report of a deceased person in Cass Lake. Investigation to follow.

Disturbing the Peace, 11:06 p.m.

Report of a farmer running diesels after 2300 hours on the 16400 block of Trengove Rd. NW in Solway.

Traffic Stop, 7:02 p.m.

Traffic stop on Cardinal Rd. and Radar Rd. NW. Driver arrested for DWI and being inimical to public safety.

Assist, 2:40 p.m.

Subject arrested for a DOC warrant on the 5000 block of Eckles Rd. NW.

Juvenile/Status Crimes, 2:17 p.m.

Deputies dispatched to an incident where an 8-year-old was running away from older brother. Deputies were advised to cancel while in route.

Vehicle Calls/Complaints, 7:13 a.m.

Deputy responded to a report of a vehicle in the ditch partially submerged in water on the 13000 block of Battle Rd. NE. Vehicle was found to be unoccupied, and owner showed address on Red Lake Reservation. Forwarded to Red Lake Tribal Police for follow up.
