Bemidji Weekend Blotter: 5/7-5/9

The following is a summary of incidents the Bemidji Police Department and Beltrami County Sheriff’s Office responded to from Friday, May 7, to Sunday, May 9.

BEMIDJI POLICE DEPARTMENT

SUNDAY,  MAY 9

Accident, 10:58 p.m.

Hit and run motor vehicle accident on Irvine Ave. and Lakewood Dr. NW.

Accident, 10:53 p.m.

Officer took a report of a hit and run on Irvine Ave. and 28th St. NW. Suspect was arrested on multiple charges.

Welfare Check, 6:52 p.m.

Welfare check on female individual crying in apartment. Officers arrived and found it to be a toddler crying. Everything was Code 4.

Accident, 6:24 p.m.

Officer responded to a hit and run crash on the 1100 block of Paul Bunyan Dr. NW.

Missing Person, 3:17 p.m.

Officer responded to a missing child. Prior to arrival, mother located her child sleeping.

Disorderly Conduct, 8:35 a.m.

Officers responded to a male party jumping onto a sheriff’s squad car on 1st St. and Paul Bunyan Dr. SE. Officers transported the male to jail.

Theft, 7:53 a.m.

Theft of bikes from a local hotel on the 900 block of Lake Shore Dr. NE.

SATURDAY, MAY 8

Fire, 8:56 p.m.

Caller reported a fire in her neighbor’s back yard on the 1800 block of America Ct. NW. The fire was contained within a ring and attended.

Animal, 5:53 p.m.

Multiple callers reporting dog tied up outside for extended period of time with no food or water on the 600 block of 18th St. NW. Unable to locate owner. Dog did not appear to be in distress.

Suspicious, 5:10 p.m.

Caller reported person laying in dumpster on the 1800 block of Paul Bunyan Dr. NW. Officers advised the male he cannot do that.

Welfare Check, 11:30 a.m.

Report of child found in roadway on the 1100 block of Minnesota Ave. NW. Child was returned home.

FRIDAY, MAY 7

Suspicious, 10:09 p.m.

Caller reported suspicious vehicle in park after dark on the 1100 block of Mississippi Ave. NW. Occupants cleaning up after family picnic.

Hazards (dangerous), 9:56 p.m.

Officers assisted FIRE with getting a college student out of an elevator on the 300 block of 23rd St. NE.

Suspicious, 7:53 p.m.

One arrested on 11th St. and America Ave. NW.

Accident, 4:49 p.m.

Possible car vs. pedestrian accident on 17th St. and Delton Ave. NW.

Fire, 8:39 a.m.

Report of large fire within city limits on the 2800 block of Minnesota Ave. NW. Male administered two citations.

BELTRAMI COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE

SUNDAY,  MAY 9

Accident, 11:06 p.m.

Hit and run on Justice Rd. and Irvine Ave. NW. Suspect then ran into a Bemidji Police squad, driver arrested for felon in possession of a firearm and DWI.

Disorderly Conduct, 8:34 p.m.

Report of juveniles throwing eggs at a residence on the 5600 block of Alps Ct. NW. Unable to locate.

Assault, 5:16 p.m.

One arrested for HRO violation in Cass Lake.

DWI, 2:32 p.m.

Deputies witnessed an HRO violation. Adult female arrested for HRO violation and adult male arrested for DWI.

Agency Assist, 8:35 a.m.

Male attempted to jump out in front of marked patrol vehicles on 1st St. E and Paul Bunyan Dr. SE, as deputies were responding to an emergency call for service. Male arrested on multiple charges.

911, 3:17 a.m.

911 call resulted in the arrest of an adult male on the 1200 block of Little Norway Ave. SE.

Pursuit, 2:20 a.m.

Motor vehicle pursuit on Turtle River Lake Rd. and Highway 71 NE. Driver arrested for DWI.

SATURDAY, MAY 8

Animal, 10:52 p.m.

Report of animals at large along Pleasant Valley Rd. NW in Puposky. Cows were directed back inside the pasture.

Assist, 10:12 p.m.

Suspicious lights in the sky reported on the 26400 block of Highway 71 NE in Blackduck. Nothing needed.

Warrant, 10:23 a.m.

Female arrested on an active Beltrami County arrest warrant on the 200 block of Main Ave. in Bagley.

FRIDAY, MAY 7

Traffic Stop, 10:11 p.m.

Traffic stop on 23rd St. and Edgewood Dr. SE. Driver arrested for DAC-IPS and gross misdemeanor no insurance.

Agency Assist, 7:53 p.m.

Report of a suspicious male on a bike on 11th St. and America Ave. NW. The male was arrested for an active misdemeanor warrant.

Agency Assist, 7:51 p.m.

Deputy assisted BPD with intoxicated individuals on Cedar Ln. NW. Charges pending on multiple people.

Animal, 6:52 p.m.

Report of a deceased puppy that had washed up on shore of Big Turtle Lake on the 200 block of Island View Dr. NE. No identifying collar features on dog.

DWI, 6:31 p.m.

Checked on vehicle on the 4900 block of Lumberjack Rd. NW in Puposky. Driver arrested for drug DWI, DAC-IPS, and 5th degree controlled substance possession.

Property Damage, 10:18 a.m.

Report of damage to windshield from flying rock on Highway 71 NW.

Suspicious, 8:27 a.m.

Report of a loud explosion that was heard a few weeks ago on the 26800 block of Debs Rd. NW in Pinewood. Unknown origin of explosion.

Weapons Offenses, 4:27 a.m.

Deputies responded to the sound of gun shots on the 4900 block of Kappes Ln. SE in Cass Lake.

Warrant, 4:17 a.m.

Warrant arrest in Cass Lake.

Vehicle Calls/Complaints, 2:30 a.m.

Vehicle in the ditch on Eckles Rd. and Balsam Rd. NW. Driver arrested for DWI.
