Bliss announces intention to run for new House 2B district

Current 5A state representative Matt Bliss (R-Pennington) announced his intentions to run for election in the new 2B district.

Last week, the state released the redistricting maps which changed the geographical boundaries of state legislative and federal congressional districts.

Bliss’s current district includes the city of Bemidji, and portions of Beltrami, Cass and Itasca counties.

State district 2B includes portions of Clearwater, Mahnomen, Beltrami, Becker, Hubbard, Itasca and Cass Counties, as well as the entire Leech Lake and White Earth Reservations, and the cities of Bagley, Blackduck, Cass Lake, Deer River, Mahnomen and Walker.

“It has been a true honor representing the people of this region in the House and I am proud of the accomplishments we have made,” Bliss said in a release.

“During my time in office, we have lowered taxes on small businesses, Social Security, and for the majority of Minnesota tax payers. We also were able to stop the double-digit increases in the individual health care market, fully funded the Hagg-Sauer project and finally provided the state funding to build a new local home for veterans. But there’s a lot of work yet to be done, especially delivering meaningful, permanent tax relief to help offset soaring prices we all are facing on goods and services.”
