Bridge work starts Tuesday on Island View Drive

Island View Drive, county-state aid highway 22, at the Turtle River Crossing between Turtle and Movil Lakes will be closed starting Tuesday, May 26. The road could be closed for up to three months.

According to a release from County Highway Engineer Bruce Hasbargen, work will include bridge replacement, grading and bituminous surfacing. Motorists are urged to use caution when traveling in work zones.

The Beltrami County Board of Commissioners briefly discussed the project during their work session Tuesday, after fielding a complaint from an area business owner.

Hasbargen said the project has been in the county’s five-year plan, with a public meeting held three years ago. The county was waiting for bridge funding from the state for a number of years. Bids went out this spring for the project.
