Cass Lake man sentenced to 15 years for unintentional murder of a child

A Cass Lake man was sentenced to 15 years in prison for the unintentional murder of a child.

According to a release from the Itasca County Attorney’s Office, 29-year-old Kevin Daniel Jackson appeared in court Friday for sentencing, after pleading guilty to the crime in September.

Officers responded to a home in Inger in August 2019 on report of a 4-year-old boy that wasn’t breathing.

The medical examiner said the boy’s injuries were consistent with strangulation, and the complaint says that Jackson was using methamphetamine the night before the boy’s death.
