Central School used for training exercises this week

The Bemidji Police Department will conduct a series of trainings at the Central Elementary School building.

The school shut its doors to students in June 2021 but will be used most of this week for Active Threat Response training sessions.

In cooperation with the FBI, the training is called “Advanced Law Enforcement Rapid Response Training,” or ALERRT.

Some increased activity in the building, parking lot and immediate vicinity of Central is expected.

Each of the two training sessions will include 16 hours of classroom workshops and hands-on tactics.

The Bemidji School District, Trek North, Voyageur’s School and St. Philip’s are cooperating with this training opportunity.
