Charwood named to juvenile justice committee

Gary Charwood of the Leech Lake Band of Ojibwe has been appointed as the chair person of the Juvenile Justice Advisory Committee by Governor Tim Walz and Lieutenant Governor Peggy Flanagan.

According to a release, the Juvenile Justice Advisory Committee is the supervisory board for the U.S. Department of Justice’s Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention’s Title II Juvenile Justice Program.

The release says the committee oversees Minnesota’s compliance with the Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention Act, providing leadership and support.
