MESABI TRAIL- A Chisholm man is facing a life prison sentence in the January shooting death of an Aurora man on the Mesabi Trail in northeast Minnesota.

Prosecutors say 18-year-old Deshon Bonnell pleaded guilty to first-degree murder while committing aggravated robbery in the killing of 33-year-old Joshua Lavalley.

Bonnell admitted in court yesterday that he shot Lavalley twice in the head. The criminal complaint alleges Bonnell and a co-defendant took Lavalley into the woods and shot him because he made unwanted advances on Bonnell’s girlfriend.

He will receive his sentencing on October 25th.
