The Bemidji City Council will meet tonight to discuss annexation and this year’s legislative strategy. According to a memo from City Manager Nate Mathews, a discussion to commence phase 3 of the annexation resolution will be held at the next council meeting.
Mathews says beginning the annexation process as soon as possible will result in a cleaner Census.
The legislative discussion will focus on submitting legislation and lobbying for both the bonding bill, to address the city water issue, and a food and beverage tax.
The discussion will likely focus on language, such as how the tax would be used to offset the Sanford Center.
