City council to discuss third-party review of Sanford Center again

The Bemidji City Council will once again discuss a third-party review of the Sanford Center operations.

Last month, the council did not approve the hiring of Convention, Sports, and Leisure to conduct the review.

CSL did the original feasibility study more than a decade ago for the Sanford Event Center.

Since the August meeting, City Manager Nate Mathews says another inquiry to complete the study was received by Hunden Strategic Partners, but it did not include a quote for the cost of services.

The discussion this evening will likely include the possibilities of a food and beverage tax and conducting an independent study.

Further conversations on specific concerns with VenuWorks, as well as key stakeholders at Bemidji State University and Sanford Health, are also likely.
