Minnesota’s cold weather rule went into effect yesterday, meaning utilities can’t shut off heat due to their customers inability to pay.
Customers must be able to set up some sort of payment plan, and many may be eligible for assistance through the Minnesota Department of Commerce’s energy assistance program.
Residents of Beltrami and Cass county can apply through BiCAP. The BiCAP office for these applications is at 6603 Bemidji Ave N.
