Starting today, Birchmont Beach Road will be closed to all traffic from the State Park Entrance to New Bass Road.
According to a release from the Beltrami County Highway Department, the closure for all traffic should last about a week.
The City of Bemidji also announced today that the Norton Avenue reconstruction project is underway after the council awarded a second bid to Northern Paving for the project on June 6.
Streets included in this year’s project include Norton Avenue from 15th to 23rd St. NW, 23rd Street from Norton Ave. to Ridgeway Ave. NW, and Ridgeway Avenue from 23rd St. to Paul Bunyan Drive.
Normal working hours for this project will be 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., Mondays through Fridays with some Saturdays. The majority of the project area will remain passable for residents living inside the area but will be closed to through traffic with signed detours on adjacent streets.
Starting tomorrow, drivers can expect a one-day closure at Highway 89 in Grygla. According to a release from MnDOT, crews will replace a center-line culvert and expect to reopen the highway by the end of the day.
