County administrator search continues

The Beltrami County Board of Commissioners approved a plan to advertise for the soon-to-be vacant County Administrator position.

Current administrator Kay Mack announced her plan earlier this year to retire in November.

David Drown Associates Company from Faribault are handling the search.

Kay Mack, in her administrator notes, commented on additional qualities the next administrator should have, especially when setting agenda items for the commissioners.

Potential interview dates for the new administrator would be in September and October.

Other agenda items discussed in the meetings:

  • An update on the Bemidji Area Service Collaborative (BASC), which serves some mental health needs in the Bemidji area for children.
  • A review of the development fund process. CARES Act dollars the county received will largely cover county programs, but by partnering with Greater Bemidji, county development grants may be issued to businesses who did not receive previous support through other COVID-related financial programs for businesses. Some of the county’s $1 million commitment to the Bemidji Veterans Home is coming from the community development fund, about $75,000 per year for six years.
