COVID-19 updates for Tuesday, Aug. 17

MDH reported 1,470 new COVID-19 cases and five new deaths Monday.

Active cases in the state are at 9,044.

As of Monday, active cases in Beltrami County were at 86. Ten new cases in the county were reported Monday.

Beltrami County has had 4,262 COVID cases and 65 deaths since the pandemic began.

The CDC COVID tracker says over the last seven days, Beltrami County’s testing positivity rate has been 4.55 percent.

Approximately 3.23 percent of Beltrami County’s hospital beds are being used on COVID patients, and 8.57 percent of the county’s ICU beds.

Vaccination rates are slowly increasing, with 66.7 percent of the eligible 12+ population receiving at least one dose, and 56 percent fully vaccinated.

A booster shot for Moderna and Pfizer vaccine recipients may be recommended eight months after the second dose was administered.

Gov. Tim Walz announced the $100 incentive program for those who receive their first shot from July 30- Aug. 15 was extended through Aug. 22. To claim your incentive, visit mn.gov/covid19/100.
