COVID-19 updates for Wednesday, Sept. 8

Beltrami County Public Health is monitoring 164 active COVID-19 cases as of Tuesday.

BCPH Director Megan Heuer also noted there were nine patients hospitalized for COVID within the county, with three of those patients being county residents.

The Minnesota Department of Health’s COVID data issued today includes cases reported throughout the Labor Day weekend.

MDH is reporting 5,777 new COVID-19 cases and nine new deaths.

Sixty-two of those new cases are Beltrami County residents, 75 are Cass County residents, six are Clearwater County residents and 21 are Hubbard County residents.

MDH also updated its Vaccine Breakthrough report Tuesday.

Of the 3,050,905 Minnesotans who are fully vaccinated, 15,819 have contracted COVID-19, representing 0.519 percent of the fully vaccinated population with a breakthrough COVID case.

According to the report, 957 of those patients needed hospitalization and 93 died. That represents about 0.031 percent and 0.003 percent of the state’s vaccinated population, respectively.
