Deer River woman injured in alcohol-related crash

The Minnesota State Patrol reports that a 42-year-old Deer River woman was injured in a single-vehicle crash on Highway 2 Thursday afternoon.

According to the report, Sarah Wakanabo was driving a Nissan Rogue when she went off the road at Highway 2 and Itasca County Road 89, causing the vehicle to roll onto its driver’s side.

Wakanabo was treated for her minor injuries on the scene. She is believed to have been under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash.

The Itasca County Sheriff’s Office assisted at the scene.
