Detroit Lakes man jailed after 100+ mph pursuit

A Detroit Lakes man is in custody after leading Becker County deputies on a 12-mile chase Tuesday at speeds up to 100 miles an hour.

Becker County Sheriff Todd Glander says his department received a report of a vehicle parked in the driving lane of a road in Detroit Township.

The driver was apparently asleep behind the wheel.

A responding deputy determined the vehicle was stolen in Fergus Falls and tried talking to the driver, but he put the vehicle in gear and sped away.

The pursuit ended when the 27-year-old suspect, Edward Beaulieu, stopped the vehicle and he and a passenger 21-year-old Kalysta Harrell from Nisswa, fled on foot.

Both were arrested a short time later.

Beaulieu was treated at the hospital for minor injuries and then booked into Becker County Jail.
