The Department of Human Services recently recognized the Leech Lake Band Of Ojibwe’s Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Education program in its Circle of Excellence Awards.
According to a release, the program provides nutrition education for low-income families on or near the Leech Lake reservation.
The curriculum also incorporates traditional foods and language and involves tribal youth in growing, harvesting and preparing the food.
