Duck hunter rescued after kayak capsized

A duck hunter was rescued from Upper Rice Lake Tuesday morning after his kayak capsized.

According to a release from the Clearwater County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to the area around 10:30 a.m. on report that someone had fallen into the lake.

The hunter was in the water for nearly an hour, hanging on to a bag of duck decoys, and was ultimately rescued by deputies and EMTs.

He was transported by ambulance to the Sanford Bagley Medical Center to be medically cleared.

The hunter’s companion had made it to shore and called 911.
