Emily man killed in Remer area crash

A 77-year-old Emily man was killed in a two-vehicle crash near Remer Wednesday.

The Minnesota State Patrol says 36-year-old Matthew Turner of Pine River was north on Highway 6 just after noon when he crossed the centerline and struck a southbound Ford Escape.

Harold Cook, who was driving the Escape, was not wearing a seat belt. He was transported to Essentia Duluth but was pronounced dead.

Turner was treated for non-life-threatening injuries at a Crosby hospital.

It is not yet known if alcohol was a factor in this crash.

The Cass County Sheriff’s Office, Remer Fire Department, Remer Ambulance and North Memorial Air Care assisted at the scene.
