Minnesota has received $106 million in federal funds for heating assistance this winter, and all income-eligible Minnesotans are encouraged to apply for the Energy Assistance Program.
In Beltrami and Cass Counties, applications are managed through BiCAP; in Clearwater County, through their Department of Human Services; and in Hubbard County, through the Mahube-Otwa Community Action Partnership.
The program helps income eligible Minnesotans by issuing payments directly to utility companies on their behalf.
The average grant is about $500, and funds may be available to help with an emergency fuel delivery or to get a broken furnace repaired or replaced.
