Erskine man seriously injured in motorcycle crash

GUTHRIE– An Erskine man was seriously injured in a motorcycle crash in Guthrie Township yesterday afternoon.

The state patrol says 72-year-old Norman Salverson was northbound on Highway 71 as a funeral procession was heading south.

A semi truck with a trailer moved to the shoulder for the procession, and Salverson swerved his Harley Davidson around the semi and entered the ditch. The Harley jumped a driveway approach, struck a mailbox and landed on its side.

Salverson was transported to Sanford Bemidji Medical Center for treatment of life threatening injuries.

The semi driver was also treated there for non-life threatening injuries. Alcohol is not believed to be a factor, but Salverson was reportedly not wearing a helmet.
